Our company traces its origin back to 1890 and the founding of the M.H. Alshaya Company. Originally trading with India , the company evolved with the development of Kuwait after the discovery of oil. The roots of the current trading division were laid in the 1940s when M.H. Alshaya Co. began supplying business material to the burgeoning construction trade. In the 1950s, Alshaya was one of the first to introduce imported sanitary ware to the Kuwait market and also expanded into electrical appliances. The advent of co-operative societies in Kuwait in the 1970s also saw the company's expansion into shelving and refrigeration equipment. At the onset of the 1990s, laundry and bakery equipment were added to the portfolio of products and services and to ensure its leading status, the Trading Division became fully computerized using state-of-the-art technology. From its humble beginnings in Kuwait, the Alshaya Group and its Trading Division have grown by leaps and bounds in the past century and now span 11 countries and numerous industry sectors, yet still remains a model of a successful values-based, family-run business.
