How did you come to be a wedding planner in Dubai?
"Four years ago I met my husband in Egypt; he was living in Dubai so I moved here to be with him. We got married two years after and while preparing my wedding I couldn’t find a good wedding planner able to introduce me to great suppliers so after my big day I decided to open a wedding planning division in my husband’s event company. I already had years of event planning experience in France, and I had also learnt so much about the differences between French weddings and Arabic weddings through my own experiences, so it was almost a natural progression".
What are the three most important qualities a wedding planner should have?
"Great sense of humour, good eye for detail, must be ruthlessly efficient and obviously must have the best suppliers in the city".
What do you love most about being a wedding planner?
"Making someone's dream come true, there is nothing better than that"!
More grooms appear to be getting involved in the planning process. What do you think of this trend?
"It really seems that men are more involved in wedding planning. This is a good news! Maybe it is because they need to be involved or because they pay more attention to style and trends now….or just because they love building this big event with their brides. Anyway it is very good news"!
Tell us one thing that should never ever be done on the cheap?
"Photographs - brides must really have the best photographer available, photographs are with you for a life time - not just on the day of your wedding. It would also be my strong recommendation that the couple have a DVD taken, as so much of the wedding is missed by them, i.e. guests reaction to speeches etc. The trick is to have a videographer who is not intrusive".
Is being a wedding planner very stressful?
"Yes it is! But it is also a real satisfaction!! I think is one of the few jobs where clients say “thank you”…and they really mean it"!
