In 1989, Anees Hussain started tutoring students privately for International Admissions tests at his residence in Karachi. He developed a revolutionary method of teaching, where he ensured that his students not just studied but actually enjoyed learning. His training was so effective, that ALL of his students were successful in their educational endeavours.
From such humble beginnings, started a new concept in education. Anees Hussain’s training grew popular day by day, and an increasing number of students joined his classes on a daily basis.
In 2004, he founded Excellence in Education in Dubai. Today, Excellence in Education continues with the same philosophy, and imparts the same quality education to students at all levels from primary to secondary to aptitude/admission test preparation.
FOUNDER
Anees Hussain was born in Karachi, in 1941 and lived there for a brief period where his father was posted as "Dewan Sahib" or Prime Minister of Junagadh State. He stayed in Junagadh, India, till Partition.
He received his primary education at the Karachi Grammar School, from where he did his Ordinary (O) levels, and then proceeded to England for his Advanced (A) Levels. Subsequently, he moved on to Cambridge from where he obtained a Bachelors and Masters in Engineering. Coming back to Karachi, he stayed there for a year and then proceeded to Columbia University for a Masters in Industrial Engineering while on the Ph.D program at the Graduate of Business, Columbia, he also studied for a degree in Business Administration at Columbia Graduate School of Business, and at the end of four years, graduated with a Master of Philosophy in Business Administration as well as a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering. While working towards his degrees, he took 28 graduate courses, achieving 26 A's and 2 B's, thus earning him a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.94. He was awarded the Ford Foundation Fellowship for Doctoral Studies in Business Administration. Mr. Hussain enrolled in the PH.D program in the Graduate School of Business, Columbia .
At the same time, he was offered a teaching position at the Graduate School of Business, Columbia. This was indeed a high honour bestowed upon a twenty-six year old Pakistani, who would be teaching a class with an average age of twenty nine years. Mr. Hussain discovered his passion for teaching, and got so involved that he never managed to finish his final thesis for the Ph.D.
Very early on in his teaching career, he became one of the top professors of the Graduate School of Business, and for 11 trimesters in a row was ranked first, second or third out of 110 faculty members in the teachers’ evaluation conducted by the student body. Mr. Hussain received The Distinguished Teachers Award.
On returning to Pakistan, Mr. Hussain established his tuition center in Karachi in 1989 with the aim of making the pursuit of education a fun-filled and intriguing experience for the young scholars of this country. His method of teaching, so successful in Columbia, soon gained favour amongst the youth of the city and within a year his students were achieving unheard-of success rates. If there is a keyword epitomizing his teaching method, it is MOTIVATION.
His complete system of teaching, including the use of student psychology and a variety of motivational techniques each suited to a different type of student, has been formally infused into Anees Hussain’s Way. Every teacher joining Mr. Hussain is personally trained in this method. Since Anees Hussain’s Way was formalized, Mr. Hussain has personally trained over 50 teachers in Karachi and Dubai.
He has now been preparing students for international certification examinations, as well as entrance tests to numerous local universities for over sixteen years, during which he has also taught in some of the better schools of the city such as Karachi Grammar School, The Lyceum School, City School, Beaconhouse Public School, Karachi American School, International School of Karachi, College of Business Management (CBM) Karachi, Asian Management Institute (AMI) and Griffith College. However, his mission is to get children into the colleges of their choice, which is also the primary purpose of his preparation centers
