French Connection first opened its doors in November 1997 on the now very popular Sheikh Zayed road in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The founder, with his vast experience and background in operating different types of business in Dubai since the country’s inception, opened French Connection after he saw an opportunity in the market for a different type of coffee shop. Consequently, French Connection was the first trendy designed café in Dubai and the first stand alone café on Sheikh Zayed road i.e. not part of a hotel.
