About

This empire obviously has a history to it. A history that can perhaps only be matched by that of Dubai itself.

GEEBEE took roots from a joint family company that was started in Karachi by GB Choithram Jethwani's grandfather Gagandas Bhawandas in 1892. The family company 'Gagandas Bhawandas' - was one of the largest exporters of textiles and general goods to all Gulf countries. They also owned seaworthy dhow that transported goods from Karachi to the Gulf.

After India's partition in 1947, the company "Gagandas Bhawandas" moved to Bombay.

As the company took deeper roots in business, people found it difficult to pronounce Gagandas Bhawandas. So the ‘G’ from Gagandas and the ‘B’ from Bhawandas was taken and thus was born the name “GEEBEE”.

Gagandas Bhawandas Bombay's first branch office started in Dubai in the year 1950, an export house powerhouse operating from a small office in a congested part of the old city - the Souk Al Baniyas in downtown Dubai.
