Stepping into the third millennium characterized by its explosion of technologies daily face new challenges. All of them require prompt action from national and gold policy makers. Islamic Azad University as stake holders in the field of higher education, universities has a strong obligation to shoulder the burden arising from this new era of the acknowledge society. Taking this fact into consideration, the IAU is proud to respond to the ever increasing demands of endeavoring to broaden their tertiary education. It operates on the principle of progress and advancement of education. Sciences and technologies through are attracting and training of students both domestically and abroad. The Islamic Azad University has 25 years of outstanding progress in training technologically skilled, specialized manpower that provide the needed to expertise required by the domestic labor market. During the period, our more than 1,800,000 graduates eloquently define our mission in higher education sector.

IAU is an Iranian non-pofit, non-governmental system of higher education founded in 1982 in response to an increasing social demand for specialized manpower and development. IAU is biggest university in all over the world with more than 1,300,000 students. IAU is a dynamic and fast-growing university and its steady expansion is mirrored in the broad range and increased number of its undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses. Under five disciplines, IAU offers 799 study courses in over 330 campuses in and out of the country. IAU has taken place in some country out of Iran such as U.A.E (Dubai), England (Oxford), Tanzania (Zangbar Darussalam), Lebanon (Beirut), Armenia (Erivan). Launching campuses in Afghanistan and Tajikistan already has started and also it plans for launching new campuses in Canada and Malaysia. The vision of IAU Dubai campus as a biggest branch campus out of Iran is to be the largest university in the UAE with full range of educational programs and our Oxford’s campus will compete with the other qualified universities in UK. All these elements are indicators that the university is fully aware of achieving its roles as the key actor in the global development process and its responsibilities and commitments in materializing the loftiest objectives of higher education. • IAU Global Activities On the global level, IAU is a member of several international associations including, the international Association of Universities (IAU), the international Association of University Presidents (IAUP), Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (F.U.I.W.) and the IAU president Prof. Dr. Abdollah Jassbi is currently the president of F.U.I.W. Robotic teams of IAU are in the first level of Robocop in the world and medical and dentistry graduated are famous as the best in region. International cooperation and expansion is a major concern of the university. IAU has objectives regarding national, international and local participation and publications and publications and publishes several periodicals. • IAU as a Research UniversityIts objectives are to achieve a balance between researches in general and community related research. If an analysis is made of total number of hours spent on research, it appears that research is highly regarded as an academic responsibility. It conducted in conjunction with teaching. The research is work some staff members is primarily directed at large projects, theses, text books and reports, that will only be completed over a longer period of time. The university offers a wide range of postgraduate courses through its different branches. The degree of Master and Doctor of Philosophy are offered by IAU campus in the department of biology, chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, English, Forestry and etc. A number of interdisciplinary research programs exist in which faculty members and students from various departments collaborate in the investigation of problems of mutual interests and most IAU campuses undertake research on behalf of industrial, national and international organization. • IAU Mission The university’s mission is to develop young scholars. It promots knowledge through education and scientific research and develops specialized manpower in order to meet social needs, thus encouraging the development of higher education throughout the country. IAU endeavors to modernize higher education in terms of structure of curricula and its contents. It tries to encourage the opening of higher education institutions to their socioeconomic environment through linking university research to the requirements of industrial and production needs, as well as labor market requirements and to offer more specialized programs in their respect. IAU’s Mission is to provide competitive quality and affordable cost higher education services in the world to enable students to achieve best world class degree. • Major Approval and Quality Assurance Process IAU follows the curriculum provided by the Iranian Ministry of Higher Education (known in Iran as Ministry of Science, Research and Technology). The program prospectus and descriptions presented are the dependable copies of the original offered by the said Ministry. Quality assurance process is continually performed by a selected committee from IAU Science and Research Campus, both academically and for research affairs. All majors available at IAU follow the same curricula which are provided by the Ministry of Higher Education, and applied by IAU Central Organization to all local and international branches and campuses. The only difference is that at international branches and campuses, the medium of instruction is English Language except for some General courses, which must by nature be taught in either Farsi or Arabic; Such courses as General Farsi Language, Holy Quran’s text interpretation, and Islamic Criminal and Civil Law (from Law major).
