Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research is an Abu Dhabi Government initiative owned solely by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The university was inaugurated in February 2007 and opened its interim campus in Abu Dhabi in October 2008 to add to the campus in Sharjah (formerly Etisalat University College). The university's permanent Abu Dhabi campus is currently being developed. The Sharjah branch campus has a very proud 18-year history and in February 2008 was merged with the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research to form the foundation of Khalifa University. Khalifa University endeavors to be a leader among research intensive universities of the 21st century that offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate courses that range from engineering to media and communication. Featuring dedicated undergraduate, graduate and research courses in engineering sciences, taught by their highly qualified professors from USA, it is known to be one of the top-tier engineering institutes in UAE.
