The idea to run my own dog grooming salon in Abu Dhabi started back in 2007, when I was taking my lovely dog Yoko to various groomers in the area. Most of the places we went to were not specialized pet grooming salons; they were a part of veterinary clinics. It is no secret that I was not fully satisfied with the whole experience, and neither was Yoko. Every time we went back to the veterinary clinic for grooming, she wouldn't want to go in, and tried running down the stairs, poor thing. I believe she associated these buildings with the medical side of the veterinary business, which most dogs don't like. From an owner's perspective, I found the appointment system unsettling; dropping your dogs in the morning and then collecting them in the late afternoon was not only inconvenient, but it also meant that she was most likely caged whilst awaiting for her time on the grooming table. Yoko is a Havanese, and their look is very specific. However, I found that it was not possible for her to be styled to look her breed in these clinics; she was merely shaved on her body and face and that was all.
