Initially, unable to buy the quality of coffee we were used to locally, we started off as bootleggers, bringing our beans back into Dubai in our suitcases from favourite roasteries around the world. We love coffee, and we were seriously tired of the sad old offerings available here ~ Raw was born, established in July 2007 to fill the gap in the market for freshly roasted specialty coffee. Sourcing premium green beans from around the world, we have selected the niche market looking for quality. It’s really important to us that our beans are ethically sourced and the farmers and their families growing our coffee are treated fairly and can eke out a sustainable living. Our beans are all organically certified, roasted by origin, and available to sample from our warehouse roastery either as single origins or blends.We quickly realized coffee is not just about the beans and how much care we put into roasting them. It’s also about the support and training we can give to the baristas, and finding equipment manufacturers we want to align ourselves with. Even though the UAE has a long coffee culture, the specialty coffee market is in its infancy here so it’s a very exciting time for us.
