Founded in the year 1927, Sharjah Municipality is one of the oldest municipalities in the UAE and the Arab Gulf region.Its modern system is initiated when in the year 1971 a decree was issued defining its domain of activities to embrace the supervision of all public utilities and the rendering of various services.The decree gave the Municipality a strong start to work towards a civilized and economically and socially well-developed emirate. However, in this short expose the role of the Municipality cannot be detailed.
