Research indicates and we believe that the impact of education at the pre-school age has a far stronger and lasting effect than at any other age. The first five years of a child’s life are the years when physical growth, mental capacity, emotions and communication are most marked and most important. Even the best home environment needs to be tempered with early contacts with groups of children to encourage socialization skills. Each month we focus on a single emotional literacy topic such as Optimism, Creativity, or Kindness. We learn about the month's topic by integrating three practices into the month's curriculum. For example, when we are focusing on Optimism we practice praising children according to a “growth mindset”, and praise them based on effort rather than achievements. While we put our attention on a particular theme each month, we continue to use the practices of the prior months in our interactions, so by the end of the year we are using all of the practices. Children also get a chance to deepen and reinforce their learning by encountering the themes again in their second year of school. Our warm and innovative co-teachers are deeply committed to providing a high quality and funfilled program. Your children quickly develop a loving, trusting relationship with them. The teachers bring different, yet complimentary styles to the classroom, offering a well-balanced environment for the children to explore by combining their individual experiences and educations in a classroom to produce an optimum program for the school. They compliment each other by using each other’s strengths. The co-teachers in the classroom work as a team, taking turns carrying out individual-type daily duties and working together on those that can be done together. Each teacher takes advantage of having the opportunity to observe one another and learn from each other’s expertise. Both teachers have equal opportunity for creative input when it comes to planning of themes, craft ideas, field trips, games, activities and solutions.
