About

The British International School is a well established school that opened in September 2009. It now has over 1000 students from Foundation Stage 1 (age 3) to Year 11 (age 16). It will be opening classes for Year 12 in September 2011, with subsequent years to follow.

The school is located on a large campus behind Abu Dhabi University with spacious classrooms, indoor gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, dance and drama studios, music suites, shaded playing courts and grassed sporting fields.

BIS Abu Dhabi is a co-educational school that applies the English National Curriculum, with instruction delivered in English. The school plans to offer the IB Diploma Programme in Year 12 and 13 once it has received authorisation.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our vision is to provide a premium quality British education, within an international context.

BIS Abu Dhabi seeks to prepare its students for their role in a challenging and rapidly changing world. We provide an environment that is nurturing, academically stimulating and internationally aware. Our students develop as confident, open-minded, respectful young people, inspired to become responsible and active global citizens.

Our commitment is to create and maintain a safe, happy and child-centred environment in which children are inspired to become purposeful life long learners. We provide an education based upon the English National Curriculum in an international context for pupils with a range of abilities.

Our students are supported in reaching their highest level of personal achievement through good learning habits, self-discipline and a strong sense of responsibility. Staff in the school place a strong emphasis upon the importance of kindness, courtesy, and consideration for others. We also give recognition to hard work and commitment in all areas of school life and encourage students to develop their individual strengths and interests.

Our school makes a positive contribution to the local community and we feel that we have been successful in creating a learning environment that promotes a knowledge and understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds and belief systems and global issues.

Our aim is that upon leaving our school students are confident, well-rounded individuals who are well prepared for the next stage of their education and their role in a challenging, demanding and rapidly changing world.
